Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
Often referred to as the "tummy tuck," abdominoplasty is a procedure which creates a smoother, flatter appearance of the stomach. This is achieved by removal of excess skin and fat, along with a re-tightening of the abdominal wall muscles. Of all re-contouring procedures, abdominoplasty furnishes the most dramatic effects. In many instances, no amount of exercise and dieting will be able to accomplish these results.
Dr. Swanson performs abdominoplasty as an outpatient procedure, allowing the patient to return to the comforts of home the same day as the surgery. Recovery involves approximately two weeks off from work and any other strenuous activity. Also, to aid the recovery process, patients are required to wear a compression garment for a few months. This garment, which may be hidden under clothing, helps control swelling and bruising, ensuring that patients achieve optimum results.
