Labiaplasty
Some women are not comfortable with the appearance of their genitalia and feel that their labia minora (inner folds of skin also known as "lips") are too long and visible. In addition to not liking the "look" of this area, some women also experience discomfort during exercise and other activities, or when they wear tight clothing, as their elongated labias get pinched by their undergarments. This is one area of the body that simply cannot be improved without the removal of the excess tissue; however, a simple procedure called labiaplasty can create the feminine appearance that these women desire.
Labiaplasty is a simple procedure reducing the length and/or bulk of the labia minora so that the internal "lips" simply "peek" out of the labia majora (the outer folds of skin). Depending on the patient's prreference, this outpatient procedure can be performed under either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with oral sedation. The recovery time is quick and all sutures are absorbable, so no stitches ever need to be removed. This is truly a minor surgery that can make a major impact on a woman's life.
