Otoplasty (Ear Pinning)

Some people feel self-conscious because their ears are too large or stick out too far from the sides of their head. Fortunately, a subtler look can be attained by permanently attaching the ears closer to the skull in a procedure known as otoplasty, or ear pinning. This procedure is strictly cosmetic, and does not affect the ears’ ability to function. This relatively minor procedure can make a wonderful difference in a person’s self-confidence.

Following otoplasty, ears will be slightly swollen and sore for the first seven to ten days; however, the stitches in the crease behind the ears will not be visible to onlookers. Therefore, it is possible to return to school or work after a few days of rest following surgery. Strenuous activities will have to be avoided for several weeks until sufficient healing has occurred.
