Botox, Juvederm, and Radiesse
Today there are several solutions available for people interested in enhancing the appearance of their skin in order to achieve a more vibrant, youthful look. These treatments may be used to fill folds, smooth away lines and even enhance lips, and cheek area all with virtually no downtime.
One popular option is Botox. Botox essentially acts as a paralyzing agent to the muscle that is contracting, and causing the wrinkle or groove. These injections are often made in the forehead region creases, the vertical grooves that form in between the eyebrows, and in the “crow’s feet” around the outer edges of the eyes. The smoothing effects generally last for three to four months and then need to be repeated.
Juvederm is an injectable gel that replaces volume which has been lost over time. It is often used to increase lip fullness and reduce wrinkles around the mouth. It lasts between nine and twelve months.
Radiesse, is an FDA approved dermal filler that is made with tiny calcium-based microspheres to form a scaffold to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen. Radiesse is not used in the lips but can be used with great results in the nasolabial folds and deep wrinkles around the nose, mouth and the Cheek area.
These procedures may also be done in conjunction with other facial rejuvenating procedures. Call the office and make an appointment for a free consultation.
What fillers are right for me?
This depends on your needs and desires. A consultation will help clarify which fillers could be helpful for you.
Will I have bruising and get swollen?
Usually there is no bruising, but it certainly can occur and may take a week or two to completely clear. It is important to discontinue the use of aspirin for ten days and Motrin for three days before treatment as these reduce natural blood clotting and will cause bruising.
How long will it last?
Fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 1 ½ years and is variable among patients.
Will it fill my forehead lines?
No. Botox does not “fill” lines; it helps to smooth the lines to prevent muscle movement in the areas of injection.
How long until I see It working?
Normally it will take three days for you to notice any movement change and a week to see the final result. Lines will begin to smooth when movement is limited.
What is the average cost?
Average cost for Botox per unit is between $11-12 per unit. Patients will need between 20-50 units on average to achieve the desired result.
Do I have to keep doing it to keep the results? How long will it last?
Well, like any treatment it needs to be continued to keep the “great” results. Botox will normally last 3-4 months.
